What is the NI-MH battery?

Nickel-metal hydride batteries are a type of rechargeable battery. Like nickel-cadmium batteries, the chemical reaction at the positive electrode includes nickel oxide hydroxide (NiOOH). However, unlike NiCd cells, negative electrodes in NiMH batteries consist of hydrogen-absorbing alloys rather than cadmium. A NiMH battery can have two to three times the capacity of an equivalent-sized NiCd battery, and its energy density can approach that of a lithium-ion battery.

The first use of nickel metal hydride batteries was in portable medical devices in the 1980s. They were later used in early versions of laptops and electric cars before being replaced by lithium-ion batteries.

OVERALL PURPOSE:

Rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack is widely applied to medical devices such as cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators and insulin pumps. It can also be used in portable electronics such as MP3 players and digital cameras. The rechargeable battery pack is an ideal power source for wireless detectors (such as metal detectors or explosives detectors), which require large currents at high voltages.

Ni-MH Battery Assurance:

There is no better way to ensure the quality of a Ni-MH battery than to check its capacity. In order for the customer to be sure that this battery will meet your requirements, we recommend that you perform the simple capacity test described below.
